Apple Upgrade Program
Leasing a computer will prove to be a good deal for those of us who want to stay up to date with our hardware, especially as chips get better at doing local AI. Yes, I could sell the computer myself as I upgrade each time, but I have had horrible experiences with eBay in the past when trying to do this. Alternatively, I just end up with a bunch of old hardware in my garage.
As all these devices will go back to Apple, they clearly hold value. But what I've not seen written about elsewhere is that they will get to determine exactly how much that value is based on what they sell them for in their refurbished store. They will now be incentivised to manipulate the market to keep the resale value of these devices high enough to make it worth it to run the program.
Watch out for the inevitable class-action suit when everyone realises that second hand Apple devices just increased in price.
