Dumb

Had a bit of an issue with one of the hotels. Apparently it was booked for NEXT Sunday, not this Sunday. This would have been a major oversight should had we turned up before I noticed this, so thankfully I did. I’ve booked for this Sunday now and cancelled the other one as per theLast Minute customer support instruction (who replied promptly and reliably, yay them).

Now I find it hard to believe that I was enough of a muppet to choose the wrong dates (despite my long history of muppetry), so is it possible that their booking system got confused about the leap year? Sunday is the 29th, so maybe it just decided that wasn’t possible and pushed it on a week?

Oh, who knows. I managed to book three other hotels without a problem. Maybe I just am that dumb.

Speeding

I got a ticket for speeding today, 83.84 miles an hour. Just five miles faster and I could have gone back to a time before it happenned and stopped myself from doing it.

Yes, I was speeding. But I’m a little annoyed that the policeman who stopped me thought the speed limit on a dual-carriageway is 60mph. As any good driver knows, it’s 70mph on a national speed limit dual-carriageway, and that’s exactly what the A725 is. Unless somebody wants to tell me why it’s a 60mph instead (no signs say so anyway).

£60 fine and 3 points on my license. An excellent way to start my holiday anyway.

Booked

Well that’s all four hotels booked. In order of visits, we are going to…

  • Friday Night - 27th - De Vere Oulton Hall, Leeds. 5 star. Looks fancy.
  • Saturday Night - 28th - Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor. 4 star. Looks gothic. Rocky Horror filmed there.
  • Sunday Night - 29th - Kitley House Hotel, Plymouth. 4 star. Large surrounding countryside. Looks homely.
  • Monday Night - 30th - Seiont Manor, Snowdonia, Wales. 3 star. Odd exterior, excellent looking interior. Middle of the Welsh countryside, should be spectacular.

There’s an average of about 220 miles between each one, so it’s about 3 and a half hours drive each time, although with a larger return journey on the Tuesday (which we’re planning on doing via Liverpool).

Can’t wait.

Progress

Bearscript, the single most important component of my plan for world domination, is coming along. It is now capable of compiling such scripts as…

# Bearscript Source File
get data as genres from film_genres
loop through genres
	display name from genres
	display "\n"
end loop

Which means I’m dancing the happy dance.

Smash

I just came back from the supermarket and while carrying the bags of shopping from the car I dropped a jar of Chicken Tonight. It smashed, sending sauce and glass all over the car park.

As an extra bonus, when I went out to try and clean up some of the glass (I don’t fancy puncturing my tyre when I drive away tomorrow morning, but I probably still will) I cut my hand, spilling blood everywhere.

That’s an excellent metaphor for the week I’ve been having.

Plus I now smell like chicken sauce.

Sleep

Can I goto sleep please?

I went to bed last at 9pm and was in bed until 8am this morning, but I kept waking up in pain (back = agony), so even though I was under the covers for 11 hours, nowhere near that much sleep was accrued.

Back pain, fatigue, headachy, brain really not working too well (lots of stupid moments at work today)… the weekend can’t come soon enough.

Pain

Today was a painful day, having all sorts of back problems. Don’t know quite what is up, but I’m incredibly tight across my shoulders and down my back, especially in the lower area. I have a history of problems with it but it’s been a year or more since it’s been this bad. Driving home was quite excruciating. Been trying tonight to stretch the muscles as best I can, which has helped a bit, at least taking a deep breath no longer makes me wince.

Fun Tomorrow

Tomorrow can’t come quick enough, while sitting in the dark on the couch this afternoon that light-up keyboard would have come in mighty handy.

Laptops are currently sitting in Bellshill and have been since very early Saturday morning. So close, yet so far.
