Pee
Our dog keeps peeing. A lot. There’s not much carpet left that hasn’t been stained by her stinky wee and it’s really starting to get quite annoying. As the photograph shows, she knows that it’s wrong (she goes and hides in the bathroom whenever she does it, even before she gets in trouble from us), but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Sometimes she’s taken out, she pees like a banshee, then comes back into the house and does some more. It’s crazy.

Her shitting all over the bed wasn’t much fun last weekend either.
Unicycling
Something that I’ve always wanted to be able to do, alongside playing the piano, is unicycle. I don’t know why, it just always looked like fun. So a couple of months ago I decided to get myself one, and I finally ordered it at the weekend and it turned up on Wednesday.

First reactions were not what I expected, it’s far more unstable than you ever thought it could be, and incredibly uncomfy. The supplied book describes it as “the stupidest mode of transport ever invented,” and tells you that it’s really difficult and you probably won’t be able to do it. Without falling off. A lot. It’s fun though, and certainly good exercise for the legs. I certainly work up a sweat whenever I get on it.
Mince
As we’re rapidly approaching Christmas (just four weeks from yesterday fact fans), I’m hunting for the perfect mince pie. So far I’ve tried the offerings from the Safeway where everybody knows my name…
Mr Kipling
The mincemeat contained within is not too sweet, but lacks any juicyness, which combined with the pastry gives quite a dry, chewy result. Worst of all there’s so little of it that it barely covers the bottom of the pies innards.
Safeway Luxury
Much fuller inside, with filling right up to the top. And quite an excellent taste as well, with juicyness right through. Overly sweet though, with another dry pastry.
Safeway Iced
Current top of the pile, these are of course very similar to the Luxury ones, with basically the same innards. The icing on the top solves the dry pastry problem of the others and strangely, the filling doesn’t taste quite so sweet.
Holiday!
Just booked ourselves a little holiday, off to Victoria in British Columbia next Saturday (29th November) for the week. Flights booked through Expedia and hotel booked directly. It’s always nice to do things without having to move from your chair.
I bought a unicycle as well, but that’s a story for another time.
Smell
I’m typing this as the smell of a cooked breakfast wafts across the apartment, mmmmmmmm, lovely.
Back to Society
I am now back in the land of broadband. The house move was completed successfully a couple of weeks ago, and living without it for that time was really hard. I’ve gone from a 2Mbps cable connection with Telewest to a 500k ADSL connection with Pipex. It was a fairly painless process getting the line, getting it converted and then setting up the ADSL router and Airport again. It might be a quarter of the speed, but after living with 56k dial-up for the last 14 days, anything is an improvement.
Google Subversion
Well my little experiment worked, as my attempt to subvert Google was a success within four days. Results can be seen here.
I was serious about the site though, it’s gone on the list of “interesting website ideas.” Long list.
Social Cuisine Networking
I just registered the domain todaysmeal.com, all in the hope of creating some social cuisine networking. Whatever that means.
