Breakfast
I’m currently working my way through a bowl of cereal as I sit typing in this position for probably the last time. In just 90 short minutes I shall be signing a lease and taking charge of two sets of keys for my new flat. Around me, nothing has changed, as I haven’t packed anything. I don’t know why that is, maybe I don’t believe my idiot friend is actually going to be foolish enough to move in with me and therefore don’t think it’s worth packing yet. Maybe I’m just lazy and want her to help.
It’s been an eight year struggle to get to this stage and with such a short time remaining, I’m caught between jumping up and down, sitting in the corner with my fingers crossed and visiting the bathroom to calm my nervousness. I don’t know if this is how I imagined it would happen. But I did always believe it would.
Evil Plan
This girl agreed to move in with me.
Fool.
:)
11:30am
11:30am tomorrow morning I sign the lease and take the keys for my new living quarters.
oh.
my.
god.
That is all.
Moving
In what seems like a bit of an unreal situation, today I filled in the first set of paperwork on the road to leasing a flat in Hamilton (about 4 miles from the chair I am currently, and usually, parked in). It’s actually been incredibly straightforward, finding somewhere nice was quick and painless and nothing (apart from the great big wads of cash I’m paying out) is causing any issues.
Of course it can only go wrong from this point.
Current estimates put next Wednesday as the most likely day for getting everything sorted and keys changing hands. My only worry is that I missed something when I looked around it and we’re going to be living somewhere without a toilet, or even worse, without broadband.
Not the Musical Rent
Why do letting agents not include information about the available internet connection with each of their properties? Obviously, doing what I do (which is not very much), such information is quite important when choosing somewhere to rent. Top of my wishlist at the moment has no broadband available, meaning I’d be back in 56k land. Normally this would be an instant turn-off, but the rest of the property fits my requirement criteria so well that I’d probably be willing to forgive it. Of course I might actually see inside the place for the first time tomorrow and decide it’s all wrong, but that seems unlikely, and who knows how long it’ll be before I see another place which seems so right.
56k.
Since it doesn’t look like they’ll be sending out Oscar screeners anyway, I don’t think it’ll be that much of an issue. :)
On an unrelated note, why does the Num Lock key on my Mac keyboard do absolutely nothing? It doesn’t even light up.
Respect
Absolute big respect for Apple’s PC version of iTunes. I was really worried about this release, that it would be crippled in comparison to the Mac version, like it wouldn’t have all the same features or support Rendezvous sharing etc. But amazingly, it’s identical. The aqua controls don’t even seem out of place on the PC.
Honestly, really well done. Colour me impressed and surprised.
Mish-Mash
Wow, so many things going on. Feel as if I haven’t been in the house for weeks. There are a million things I could mention, but just can’t yet. It’ll all come out soon enough, happy and scary all at once (scary is perhaps too strong a word, more nervous excitement).
Titan hotel reservation system is coming along in leaps and bounds. There’s still some hard questions hanging over a lot of things, but it’s starting to feel quite solid. Pleasing. At last.
Still using Camino. Tabs look funny in Panther. Not even sure if they’re still actively developing it, no longer easy to see a list of changes that have only happened to it. I miss the spell checker from Safari.
Not a single project of mine has moved forward a bit. No Blogbear updates. Marvin keeps dying. Chatbear seems stagnant. I want to fix Marvin, can’t think how. Maybe write my own IRC server. Or delve into the code of the one I currently use. Could be a good learning experience.
Must post on here more.
Browser Switch
I’ve started using the latest nightly build of Camino again. Tabs are a bit screwed up on Panther, but at least it actually refreshes the page when you tell it to, unlike some browsers. We’ll see how long I last.
Sucks
This weekend sucks.
